The European Super League is OFF – fans have won, greed lost.

Following incredible protests from supporters across the country, it was revealed that all of the teams involved in the controversial plans met on Tuesday night to disband the idea, after Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester City pulled out of the league.

In what has proven to be a fatal blow to the £4.6billion rebel alliance, club chiefs decided they could no longer be party to the much hated plans that threatened to rip the heart of football as we know it.

And it is a story that reverberated around Europe, with many of the continent’s news outlets picking up on events in west London.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson

The decision by Chelsea and Manchester City is – if confirmed – absolutely the right one and I commend them for it.
I hope the other clubs involved in the European Super League will follow their lead.

Arsene Wenger

The Arsenal icon told beIN Sports: “ I’m not surprised it didn’t last long. I never believed from the start it would happen. It ignored the basic principles of sporting merit. If you ignore that you kill the domestic leagues, so fans would never accept that. Rightly so.”

The last thing Liverpool fans needed was Manchester United legend Gary Neville rubbing salt into their wounds following their Merseyside derby defeat against Everton on Saturday evening.

An early goal from Richarlison and a controversial late penalty by Gylfi Sigurdsson sealed Liverpool’s fate as Jurgen Klopp’s men slipped to their fourth loss in a row.

The Red Devils fanatic enjoyed the match – a lot – and mocked the Reds at half-time by telling Jamie Carragher to get his kit on after skipper Jordan Henderson was forced off to add to Klopp’s growing list of injury woes.

Neville was at it again after Carlo Ancelotti’s men were awarded a penalty for a foul of Dominic Calvert-Lewin by Trent Alexander-Arnold, as referee Chris Kavanagh went to his pitchside VAR monitor to check his original decision.

Neville then posted a video of himself laughing and wrote: “They’ve only sent him over to make em think it was being overturned,” and added the fishing and crying laughing emojis for good measure.”

And then in a video shared on Twitter, he revelled in a celebratory post with a glass of wine at full-time and said: “It’s been very difficult in lockdown, I mean meltdown, I mean lockdown! To see the demise of the great champions.”

Neville took to social media on Sunday morning to issue a sarcastic apology for his antics the previous evening – suggesting he was feeling a bit worse for wear!

“Good morning and apologies for my behaviour yesterday evening,” Neville said on his train to London ahead of covering Arsenal vs Manchester City.

“I was in celebratory evening which has resulted in these black bags appearing underneath my eyes.

“But I can assure you that my professional stance will return today as I provide you co-commentary on Arsenal vs Manchester City. Have a lovely day.”
