I stumbled across this today playing Crysis. I can use the 360 analog stick for movement while using the PC mouse for aiming. The reason? We measure how far down a mechanical key is pressed using an infrared LED. The light from the LED is reflected off part of the key and then a sensor measures how much light is reflected.
